Junagarh-Sundergarh-Belpahad-Hemgir-Hemgiri-Odisha-Caves-Fort

JUNAGARH:-


It is situated at a distance of 47 Kms from Sundergarh and is famous for historical part and cave of monks.


Junagarh, renowned for the ancient fort of historical and archaeological importance with some ancient caves having marks of tantra worship is located about 4 kms from Hemgir.


It is situated in dense forest of Hemgir Region. Still unknown to a lot of peoples. There is no proper road to reach Junagarh Fort, as it is in top of hill and you have to trek 2 kms forest and hill area by foot.


 On the footstep of Junagarh Hill, a temple is their named Jhadeswar Temple. The priest of that temple can show you those places if you reach the temple up to 12pm.


 Here when you trek towards Junagarh, first you can see a stone standing, local people called them Bhimyani (Wife of Bhim).


Then when you go more towards top of hill, on the way you can see a Ganesha Murti carving on stone. Then you can see the 1st Cave, where in ancient times monks live in this cave.


1st Cave is not very big. Then 2nd Cave comes. In 2nd Cave there are 2 ways, One is closed due to stone slide and other way is 2 kms deep inside.


 You can not see the inside of caves as no sun light is their, you have to take torch or fire by your own to see inside of caves.


 Then 3rd Cave comes. This is not very big neither small. Then you can see another big rock stands on its own. Local people says it as Bhim.


 Then on top of that hill you can see ruins of junagarh forts. On the way to top of hill, you can see circle of hole made in stone. where in ancient times, peoples keep their weapons and fires.



How To Reach:
There are 2 way to reach Junagarh, One is from Sundergarh and Other is from Belpahad.



Sundergarh Route:
From Sundergarh Take National Highway towards Lephripara. On Suruguda Take Left turn on National Highway towards Duduka. After Duduka Take Left turn towards Garjanbahal. Then Take road towards Hemgir. Then goes towards Hemgir Bypass Road. On that route right side you can see a entrance gate for Jhadeswar Temple. Take that road towards Jhadeswar Temple. This road is a Forest Road. Then after 5 kms you can see Jhadeswar Temple on left side. Then you can ask the locals, footstep road towards Junagarh.



Belpahad Route:

From Belpahad Take road towards Grindola-Kanika-Hemgir. Then near Hemgir you can see one road goes towards Hemgir Village and other is Hemgir Bypass Road. Take the road towards Hemgir Village, Just after 200 metres on left side you can see a entrance gate for Jhadeswar Temple. Take that road towards Jhadeswar Temple. This road is a Forest Kutcha Road. Then after 5 kms you can see Jhadeswar Temple on left side. Then you can ask the Priest of that temple regarding footstep road towards Junagarh.
